The Courtesy Verification Program (CVP) is a free service provided to AAMVA (American
Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators) members through an arrangement with
Intellicheck Mobilisa, Inc. The purpose of CVP is to provide an effective way for
AAMVA members to determine if their Driver Licenses and Identification (DL/ID) cards
and other motor vehicle administration documents using machine-readable technologies
conform to the applicable AAMVA standards and specifications. Just as compliance
with these standards and specifications is voluntary on the part of the jurisdiction,
participation in the CVP is also voluntary.
The principal user of the CVP will have a machine-readable motor vehicle document
and wish to ascertain whether or not it conforms to a particular standard. This
would cover the human-readable (visible) attributes, the physical security features
and the encoded data in machine-readable technologies. The analysis performed by
the laboratory serves to identify those areas, if any, that are deficient and provide
direction on how and where corrective measures should be taken. For this purpose,
we ask that samples created for testing reflect the actual (or intended) issued
document.
